Walter Rane's desire to be a painter goes back to his earliest childhood memories. He was born September 8, 1949 in National City, California and educated at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. There he studied figure painting and trained to be an illustrator of books and magazines, a career path he followed for over twenty years in the New York City area.

In the past several years, his work has expanded into more personal subjects, often including scriptural themes. As an artist he seeks to communicate his feelings about life and the world we live in. Within the scriptures he finds profound messages and truths concerning life's experiences which inspire images that express his own deeply held beliefs.

Whether inspired by the early morning light over an urban landscape, fresh cut peonies on the kitchen counter, people performing everyday tasks or scripture narratives that illuminate eternal concepts, expressing his feelings about these varied subjects with paint, remains an overwhelming passion of his life.

Walter and his wife Linda currently reside in Oregon. They have four sons, three daughters-in-law and one grand daughter. They are greatly blessed.
